3 August 2009
UNU-IAS
The 1992 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Bali Roadmap recognise the important role the development and adoption of new technologies will play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in its 4th Assessment Report highlights the important role renewable energy can play in sustainably meeting the dual challenges of responding to climate change and meeting the rapidly growing demand for energy.
The United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) will convene a seminar on Monday, 3 August to highlight the prospects of renewable energy as well as some of the long term issues that policy makers need to address.
