Towards Cancún 2010: Setting the stage for UNFCCC COP16

As the host country for the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Mexico is determined to push for substantive agreements from all parties. In an effort to renew commitment by the countries involved, Mexico has taken several steps prior to COP16 in order to ensure success.

Patricia Espinosa, Mexico's secretary of foreign affairs and the chair of COP16, will follow Mexican president Felipe Calderón's February U Thant Distinguished Lecture at UNU Headquarters with a public lecture on Mexico’s efforts to coordinate a global consensus on climate change.

This event will have simultaneous English-Japanese interpretation. The event is jointly organized with the Embassy of Mexico in Japan.
