Reforming International Institutions: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century
In the context of today’s global challenges ? including terrorism, trafficking and organized crime, financial integration, poverty, environmental degradation, climate change, and pandemic diseases, as well as major shifts in military, political and economic power ? it has become clear that the current system of international institutions is inadequate. Institutions founded at the end of World War II, such as the United Nations and the World Bank, do not adequately reflect today’s balance of economic and political power. Reform is clearly needed.
